From humble beginnings twenty years ago as street vendors in Harlem, the co-founders, Richelieu Dennis, Nyema Tubman and Mary Dennis created a brand that is now stocked on the shelves of such big box stores as Target! This trio are passionate about natural products with indigenous ingredients and the cultures they come from. This success all started when they began handcrafting rich Shea butter soaps and salves in New York.
With ethically sourced Shea butter, seven women’s co-ops in Northern Ghana, with over 700 women, are paid an ethical wages. Don’t ever believe that humble beginnings, cannot lead to a powerful wave of spreading hope and help to disadvantaged communities. In my experience, when you align yourself to a higher cause, opportunities seem to open up for you.
There is just something about the power of a brand that creates a beautiful natural product line, and gives back to the community! I like to support companies that care about the people that source ingredients for them, and pay fair and ethical wages. We really can change the world for good when we are selective on where, and from whom we purchase our products. Empowerment for all people is the way to go. Vote with your dollars…..it makes such a difference.

This is a gentle, creamy body wash that cleanses, softens and soothes with nourishing Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera and Papaya. My skin felt more rejuvenated after using this product.
I use a washcloth with some product applied to damp skin, so I’m getting an exfoliation at the same time.

I love this deodorant! The essential blend Nubian Heritage uses to create this collection is wonderful. And, more importantly, it works!!! It’s so difficult to find a deodorant that doesn’t give me irritated armpits, AND, that covers the smell of sweat. This one works for me and I can’t tell you how happy I am. It’s not at all overpowering. Just right.
African Black Soap Facial Wash & Mud Mask (With Oats, Aloe Vera & Vitamin E~$16.99
This clarifying mud mask was formulated to draw out dirt and congestion from pores to deep clean, absorb excess oil, and improve the appearance of acne prone skin. African Black Soap soothes and balances while removing excess dirt and oil.
I applied a very thin layer of this to my face (always avoid the eye area). I left it on for five minutes (recommended is up to 10), because my skin is Rosacea prone and extra sensitive. With a dampened face cloth I gently removed the Mud Mask with warm water.
I only use face masks once per week. This one felt so nice and is the consistency of a dark grey pudding. The aroma is very calming, almost reminiscent of a baby power scent. My skin was left feeling cleansed, plumped and hydrated. I always spritz my face after “masking” with organic rose water.

O.K., so this is my absolute favorite in all the products I was sent for review. My sister, Sharon, happened to be visiting me when I received my package, and she went crazy for this Hand & Body Scrub!
We both immediately decided it was time for a “spa day”, and proceeded to give ourselves hand and arm treatments with the Mango Butter Hand & Body Scrub. It was so delightful and she told me to tell my readers that, “my skin feels different!, like a baby’s bottom”….. So, there you have it!
She then decided to give herself a foot treatment because she was so in love with the product. All in all, the consistency is really unique in this particular sugar scrub. It’s perfect! It’s not too oily, or too dry. And the smell!!! My favorite Nubian Heritage product so far, and I highly recommend you try it for yourself.
****I’d like to thank https://nubianheritage.com for sending me these products for my personal use and to give my honest opinion of the results. I would never encourage anyone to purchase a product that I have not tried out myself and really liked. I find the price range is very affordable and a great way to switch out your more toxic skincare products to more natural. I also like that Nubian Heritage is sold in so many big box stores as well as almost “everywhere”, online.
Final Thought: A really great product line, a company that gives back, and products that work.
