Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water

You’ve heard it said before about how beneficial it is to drink warm lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. There are multiple benefits, some really  important for maintaining glowing, healthy skin. The Vitamin C helps you heal from the inside, out. Vitamin C also helps remove free radicals from your body, which will ultimately help with reduction of wrinkles, blemishes and even sun damaged skin. Not to mention the benefit of keeping skin hydrated and increasing healthy collagen production.

One important thing to note is that it important to rinse your mouth out after consuming the lemon water. The citric acid contained in lemons can wreck havoc with tooth enamel. You can also use a straw! Either way, rinse or brush your teeth after drinking.

The  Vitamin C in lemon,  is one of the essential nutrients that help to protect your body against immune system deficiencies. They are high in potassium which is one of the important minerals for maintaining the brain, nervous system and heart. Potassium deficiency has been linked to depression and anxiety symptoms. All these health benefits from a lemon!

When you drink warm lemon water you help your body to naturally flush out toxins. So think of it as a quick detox-in-a-glass and an immune booster at the same time.

The citric acid contained in the lemon also helps your body with digestion. The acid interacts with enzymes in your body and stimulates the secretion of gastric juice. So breakfast will digest better after your lemon water.

For those people who deal with anemia, did you know that Vitamin C, can help with the absorption of iron?

The bioflavonoids contained in lemon, can help reduce blood sugar levels.

Last but not least, here’s how to prepare your lemon water.
